IS BOXED WATER REALLY BETTER?

IS BOXED WATER REALLY BETTER?

Compared to single-use plastic bottles and canned water, our plant-based cartons have a lower environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.

BEING SUSTAINABLE TAKES MORE THAN BEING RECYCLABLE

From renewable resources to responsible production, the story of sustainability goes well beyond recycling. Even when they’re recycled, plastic bottles and aluminum cans damage our planet for centuries. While both are recyclable (like Boxed Water), plastic and aluminum production is largely outpacing recycling efforts. Wishcycling won't erase the choice to use plastic or cans of water.

The truth about bottles and canned water

mountain of plastic and trash

The world is tired of our trash

Plastic is overwhelming islands that can no longer recycle our waste, and mining for aluminum creates a toxic red mud that is devastating communities.

5% of Plastic is Recycled

Single-use plastic is polluting our planet at an alarming rate. It is predicted that there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050.

Plastic and Aluminum are Finite

They are mined once and here forever. Paper is a renewable resource that is grown, harvested, and most importantly, replanted in FSC and SFI-certified forests.

red sludge from bauxite mining

Canned water has 2x the carbon footprint

Thousands of acres of forests are eliminated annually to mine for aluminum. The energy-intensive production process depletes our ozone.

BOXED WATER IS BETTER THAN PLASTIC.

Only 5% of plastic is actually recycled. The rest ends up in oceans and landfills, and is making its way into human bodies. 80K gallons of oil are sent to the ocean per year from U.S. drilling ops. Boxed Water cartons have a lower environmental impact in every category compared to plastic bottles.

BOXED WATER IS BETTER THAN ALUMINUM.

Despite being touted as infinitely renewable, 30% of aluminum cans are still made with virgin aluminum, which is not a sustainable resource. Mining for virgin aluminum produces 120 million tons of bauxite waste a year. Choosing canned water over carton water doubles your carbon footprint. Boxed Water cartons have a lower total environmental profile than aluminum cans.
