Like it says on our box, “hello.” We’re a small team taking on the Big Plastic industry. At Boxed Water™, we obsess over providing the purest water in the most sustainable way.

ON A MISSION

More than 10 years ago (in 2009), we were the first to offer a sustainable alternative to plastic water bottles. We created a new category and changed the way water is shipped, sold, and enjoyed. Please use tap water whenever possible. And when you can’t, reach for our 92% plant-based box.

The most renewable option in the water aisle: our carton is made from 92% renewable materials. The water is sourced close to our consumers to reduce our carbon footprint (instead of islands like Fiji). All cartons are 100% recyclable, refillable, and BPA free.

    Boxed Water™ is a proud member of 1% For The Planet and a partner of the National Forest Foundation and Ocean Blue Project. Together, we’ve planted over 1 million trees and cleaned beaches from Coast to Coast.

    INSPIRATION STRIKES

    Founder Benjamin Gott had the simple idea for a new type of packaged water. The mission was to fulfill the need for packaged water in a more environmentally-friendly way that allows us to give back.

    AN AMAZING START

    1:30PM - OUR FIRST SALE

    The first four cases of Boxed Water were sold to the Grand Central Market, located a block away from our offices in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

    4:30PM - STUNNED BY EARLY RESULTS

    The Grand Central Market sold through two of their four cases of Boxed Water in just three hours.

    GAINING MOMENTUM

    Less than a month after making our first sale, Boxed Water was already being carried in 10 shops in Grand Rapids, MI.

    2009-2010
    GROWING STRONG

    After gaining media attention, Boxed Water started being sold in major cities like Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta over the course of ten months. It could be found in locations like The Standard, Ace Hotel, and American Apparel.

    2013
    MUSIC TO OUR EARS

    We were the official water sponsor for the 2013 Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits music festivals, during which we delivered 300,000 Boxed Waters over 72 hours.

    2014
    GIVING BACK

    We became a member of 1% for the Planet in 2014 by pledging to give 1% of our sales revenue to environmentally-minded organizations.

    2015
    A BIG COMMITMENT

    We partnered with the National Forest Foundation to start the #ReTree project with the goal of planting a million trees in U.S. national forests within five years.

    STAYING CLOSE TO OUR CUSTOMERS

    Our business is growing, not our carbon footprint. We opened a second filling location in Utah so we can better serve our customers while minimizing our impact on the planet.
