Introduce yourself and give us a quick rundown of what you do:
I’m Ann Crady Weiss, Co-founder and CEO of Hatch. I’m also a part-time, early stage venture capitalist, wife and mother of three.
What role does sleep play in overall wellness, and how does Hatch’s approach promote a better rest for a healthier lifestyle?
Sleep is a cornerstone of overall wellness, influencing nearly every aspect of our physical, mental, and emotional health. It’s the foundation of well being and in recent years, people have been getting too little of it.
Hatch helps people learn to get great sleep. We focus on creating a holistic and personalized sleep experience that combines science, technology, and design to promote better rest and teach better sleep habits for life.
Why is choosing sustainable options, like Boxed Water, important to you?
I’m lucky enough to be able to make choices in the products I buy for myself and my family. Choosing sustainable options is especially important for me because of the example I give to my kids. We only get one earth and we need to do our best to protect it.
What’s one small change people can make to their nightly routine to improve both their sleep and overall well-being?
A consistent bedtime routine is critical for promoting better sleep and overall well being because it trains your body and mind to recognize when it’s time to wind down and rest. Just like we have a skin care routine, we need a sleep routine. This practice supports both your circadian rhythm and your mental and physical health. Hatch was purposefully-built to help with this.
What’s one wellness trend or practice you think more people should embrace?
Meditation has been a huge unlock for me. It helps me relax and fall asleep, especially when my mind is racing. I love using my Restore for meditations - Hatch has a variety of meditations specifically tailored for bedtime routines like Irreverent Meditations (my favorite) and Bed Stretching with Rio Lakeshore - because I can keep my phone away from me and stay focused
and in the moment.
What’s something you’re currently reading, watching, or listening to that inspires you?
I love reading fiction, especially a book that makes me cry. I just finished “Pachinko” by Min Jin Lee. It’s a multi-generational story about a family’s resilience in the face of systemic oppression. I highly recommend it!
