At Boxed Water, we practice the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in both our personal and professional lives. From reducing our consumption of single-use plastic (like straws and plastic bags) to sorting out our recyclables from the trash each week, there are many easy ways to help our planet.
One hidden aspect you might not know about our Boxed Water cartons is that they help you practice all three of the Rs. They help people reduce their use of single-use water bottles, and are recyclable, AND reusable!
Reduce
Every time you use our carton, you are using fewer petroleum plastic bottles. Every bottle contains the same amount of plastic as 42 straws and 75% more plastic than our carton. And our new plant-based cap is made from tree-waste, not sugar cane- which reduces our carbon footprint even more.
Reusable
We call it a “disposable reusable”. Boxed Water is perfect to be refilled on road trips, weekend getaways or at the office. If you forget your Yeti or S’well bottle at home, bring a Boxed Water with you. It works great at the airport too: empty the carton before you bring it through security and refill afterwards. We use one box on all our trips. Clean it out with warm water and a little soap between fill-ups – and recycle the carton if you see visible wear and tear.
Refill and Personalize
Skip the Solo cups and pass out Boxed Water at your next party. Everyone can write their name on the "Hello" panel, so they don't get mixed up. Get extra creative and decorate the box with drawings or designs - it’s paper, so use a permanent marker so the decoration lasts. And it’s perfect for birthday parties, holiday dinners, and work get-togethers. At our office, we all write our names on them so they never get mixed up.
Recycle and Upcycle
Empty Boxed Water cartons can be upcycled and reused around your home and office. Cut off the top, and the box becomes an instant container. The smaller cartons are great for holding desk accessories, while the larger cartons are great pen holders. Fill the carton with dirt, and it makes an excellent indoor seed starter. If you cut the bottom off the carton and punch holes on each side, you can place a small electronic candle inside for a cool upcycled lantern. The options are endless!

As you can see, your Boxed Water cartons is one of the best ways to help you reduce, recycle and reuse….as always, we encourage people to refill as often as possible.
